10 Year Anniversary

Wow this post is going to make me feel so old! Today marks 10 years since I entered the MTC (Missionary Training Center) as Sister La Cognata. I never have regretted the decision to go on a mission. Tacoma,Washington  will always feel like a second home to me with all the wonderful people, companions and other missionaries I met and the beautiful areas I served in! I secretly still hope we move there someday!

And if that isn't significant enough check out this picture. I realize it's small it was before digital cameras. See me in the blue dress? See the Elder right below me? Does he look familiar? That is Elder Ty Turner for those  who don't know we were assigned to the same district. So 10 years ago I also met my husband who I never in a million years would have imagined meeting at the MTC!  I spent 3 weeks with these 11 missionaries with little time apart except to sleep and shower. At the end of the 3 weeks we all exchanged addresses. I received a couple letters but eventually everyone stopped writing except Ty who wrote me about his adventures in San Francisco-he has some great stories that definately top mine! You can guess the rest of the story, Ty came back to BYU 6 months after I came home. We dated, got married and 2 kids later here we are!

10 years! Wow. I've never seen that picture before. That's cool you have a picture of you two from around the time you first met.

I was thinking about this day a little while ago, and what a sad day it was for me, but it was also a great day for me. Bitter, sweet in a way. I just knew I would miss you so much, but I knew you would be a great missionary. Your brother left about a month later, and our lives really changed with just two kids left at home. We were greatly blessed during the time that you both served in the mission field. I am so glad that I got to be a part of that. It was tough for me to let my two oldest ones leave. I am grateful for the elect lady that you have become. Love that I am your mom and I love you.
