San Diego

May 7th was our 7 year wedding Anniversary so we decided to take the boys to one of our favorite places and have a little family vacation. The weather was perfect and we wore ourselves out we played so hard! The first day we went on a whale watching tour that we bought off Groupon. The tour was 3 hours which was kind of long for two year olds but they fell asleep on me and Ty the last hour and it was relaxing to sit on a boat in the ocean with the sun on our faces. We didn't see any whales but we did see two different species of dolphins they estimated we saw over 400 dolphins that day. We also spotted sea lions, blue herons, and pelicans.

Troy wanted to get up and take walks constantly. It was difficult to walk with all the turbulence so Ty and I took turns. Weston was content just to sit in the chair or get up with one of us when they spotted dolphins. 

As usual the boys made lots of friends on the boat people played peek a boo and asked for high fives. The boys loved the attention of course, we also realized on this trip we need to teach them more about strangers they were hugging people's legs we'd never met which was alarming. They are a little too friendly and trusting.

When Weston saw the dolphins jumping and splashing he kept saying "more, more!"  Troy would point when he saw a dolphin and say "dol dolls"

The boys loved watching the sea lion swim anytime he disappeared under the water they would say "uh-oh" Then when he reappeared they would wave and say "hi" It was really funny.

After we got off the boat and had some lunch we went back to the hotel and swam in the pool. The boys were constantly wanting to get out and jump to me and Ty from the side of the pool.

Weston and Troy love to hang from any bar they see they truly are part monkey if they are not hanging on bars they are climbing something no matter how tall or challenging.

We went to Seaport Village for dinner, the boys were obsessed with the pigeons the whole time we ate and wouldn't sit down. We then went into a kite shop and ended up letting the boys pick out a kite. They decided on a frog one with legs that hang down as the sails. We just tried it at the park last week and it was a lot of fun!

Troy seemed a little more nervous on the carousel than Weston, he could have been really tired too.

 Day 2 and 3 we went to the Wild Animal park and the San Diego Zoo. Troy and Weston are very hands on so their two favorite parts were feeding the ducks and the petting zoo.

Wild Animal park had a playground right by where we ate lunch. The boys liked climbing the rhino and lion.

 This was on the safari ride they take you on at Wild Animal park I thought it was a good shot of the giraffe trying to reach the leaves on the tree.

Weston fell asleep in the stroller on the way to see the elephants. Troy loved seeing them and put his hand out to pet them. I had to explain that we can't pet all the animals we see, some are too big or dangerous.

 Wild Animal park had a very small splash pad. It was packed with kids who sat or blocked the water spouts letting no water out. Ty and I intervened along with a couple other parents who didn't feel it was fair to the other kids.  So Troy and Weston didn't get to play in the water much.

Troy loved to pat the goat on both sides we had to keep telling the boys to be gentle. They were so happy!

The boys had no fear when it came to feeding the goats I tried to show them how to keep a safe distance or lay their hands flat with the hay but they didn't really care. As you can see from this picture the only one who was nervous about having little fingers bit by a goat was Mommy.

 

 This was outside the petting zoo and the boys poked their heads through on their own. I love this picture! I wish all spiders and flies were this cute!

This was a friendly Orangutan, he came over sat down and started licking  the glass.

 

 

 We sat at the Zoo Entrance for I don't know how long trying to get both boys to look at us so we could get a picture.It didn't happen but they were having a good time and that's what matters. After the zoo we headed to Old Town for dinner and we checked out the candy and toy shops there both have very unique things you can't find in regular stores back home.

Day 4 we finally made it to the beach and we only stayed a couple hours because we had to check out of  our hotel and drive home that day. The boys had so much fun that we will have to stay longer next time. We tried out La Jolla Shores beach this time. The boys loved the water, waves and were more cooperative about holding hands and staying close by verses last year when Troy would just take off running into the waves like Mr. Invincible. Because of that I found it much more enjoyable and relaxing too.

 

 Weston carried this bucket around almost the whole time, he liked to fill it up with water.

They stood here mesmerized by the waves for a few minutes. Oh how I wish we lived near a beach!
